The Academy recognises the transformative potential of AI and is dedicated to leveraging its benefits while proactively managing associated risks in a manner that upholds institutional values, legal requirements, and societal expectations.

The Academy adopts a human-centred and risk-based approach to AI, ensuring that AI systems support and enhance critical human judgment rather than replace it, and that accountability remains clearly assigned to individuals. The Academy is guided by the principles of fairness, transparency, accountability, privacy, security, and academic integrity, and is committed to mitigating bias, safeguarding data, and promoting equitable and responsible access to AI technologies.

To operationalise these commitments, the Academy has established a robust institutional governance framework for AI. This includes structured processes for the evaluation, approval, and ongoing monitoring of AI tools, as well as clear requirements for vendor assessment, data protection, and risk management. AI applications are subject to defined classification levels, with appropriate controls proportional to their risk.
